- FFOTM Board Meeting January 17, 2006 Board Members Present: Roger Brace, Jesse Anderson, Erin Brown, Mike Jones, Mike Falk Absent: Larry Peterson, Laura Shearin, Rusty Tweed, Bill Hudson Elections Installation of new officers will take place at next meeting. Folk Festival Dates of June 10-11, 2006 have been finalized, CCA has been reserved. Jesse Anderson (JA) – Board should approve Proposal to split gate with CCA ($800 split in 2005) Ticket prices to be determined Arts Council grant still feasible? $1000 expected from Acoustic Music Meeting planed in next 2-3 weeks Mike Jones (MJ) – $3 a day is a great deal for admission Last year, admission was good for 2 days Discussion ensued about whether the Folk Festival should be viewed as fundraising event or break even from year to year and how that would determine ticket prices. MJ thought we should have higher ticket prices to increase revenues. JA thought Folk Festival should remain a $2 and we shouldn’t be looking to increase revenues. Mike Falk (MF) – Rather than charge admission, ask for a suggested donation of $3 per day. Cheryl Brock should be involved in ticket price determination What are our expenses? JA – We’ll be preparing a budget to give to FFOTM board MJ – We should have a mission statement for the festival. “No mission, no money” a common expression for non-profits. We have a responsibility to our members and this may include doing bigger things. MF – Have the festival committee meet, develop mission statement and proposed budget for approval by CCA and FFOTM board at next board meeting. Concert Series/Grant Applications Grants available from AZ Commission for the Arts (ACA) Deadline is March for distribution in July Proposed joint-sponsored concert series MJ: It looks like resources are coming to FFOTM’s door Other concerns about lack of energy, expertise and time for organizers September Festival Exploratory Committee Hasn’t met yet Roger Brace volunteered to chair exploratory committee Upcoming events Feb 22 Earl Brothers – partner with Weatherford Hotel Feb 24 Cowboy Campfire – partner with Weatherford Hotel Feb 25 CCA Fundraiser Newsletter Delays with getting December and January newsletters out Proposal to combine December and January newsletters, tabled until next board meeting Scheduling of Board Meetings Next board meeting scheduled for: Thursday, March 2 at 7:00 pm at home of Roger Brace Tuesdays don’t work for Kari Wednesdays don’t work for Christina Boyd Mondays don’t work for Mike Jones (?)
